Audi 2011 W12

Here at Audi Blog – Audicts, we are big fans of the A8 W12 and now Audi has released specifications and details of the all-new 2011 Audi A8 L W12 quattro. The long wheelbase variant of the 2011 Audi A8. As you can expect the main differences from the ordinary A8 is the extended wheelbase and the all new W12 engine.

The 2011 Audi A8 W12 measures 5,267 millimeters (17.28 ft) in lenght, 130mm (5.1 in) longer than any other rival models from Mercedes and BMW.

It features a longer wheelbase and an increase in height of 3,122 mm (10.24 ft) and 2 mm (0.08 in) respectively.

Rear passengers will be enjoying  two optional separate power-adjustable seats which can be heated and ventilated. A new feature on the 2011 Audi A8 W12 is the full-length centre console that can be equipped with a folding table and a fridge and of course four-zone automatic air conditioning.

2011 Audi A8 W12 Details

Here are the A8 W12 Details. For the 2011 A8 W12, Audi upgraded the standard MMI control system with more advanced one. For the first time in the A8 range, customers will have the pleasure to view 3D satellite navigation with Google Earth. If you like high quality music, the A8 will be also the right choice for you. A8 customers can order a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System. A panoramic sunroof  can be also ordered and a specal tanned Valonea leather.

Audi changed the exterior design as well for the A8 W12. The new single-frame radiator grille with chromed horizontal bars is really cool. They are numerous W12 badges and of course the classic two trapezoidal tailpipes. As standard the Audi A8 W12 is equipped with a 15-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels with 255/45 tyres are fitted, but customers can also order optional 20-inch or even 21-inch rims.

2011 Audi A8 W12 Engine Specifications

As far for the 2011 Audi A8 W12 engine specifications.

Based on the previous 6.0-liter engine found in the previous generation A8, the all new W12 for model year 2011 has been fully re worked with increased displacement from 6.0liters to 6.3 and added petrol direct injection for better fuel consumption. It weighs just 247 kilograms (545 lbs) and has a power output of 368 kW (493 bhp / 500 PS) and a torque of 625 Nm (460.98 lb-ft) at 3,250rpm. As you can expect the 2011 Audi A8 W12 is equipped with quattro four wheel drive system. For the first time Audi will put a 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox in one of their models. Keep in mind that the A8 W12 weight less that the previous generation A8 and the 0-62mph(0-100km/h) will be time less than 5seconds(4.9s). That is a remarkable achievement considering the enormous size of the A8. The top speed is limited to 155mph(250km/h) r Average fuel consumption is said to be a low 12.0 litres per 100 kilometres (19.6 US mpg).

While only the W12 FSI is available at launch, by the end of the year the long version of the A8 will be offered with the standard engines.

    fantastic looking car..

    Why “only” 500ps??

What is Audi going to do about the S63AMG (525ps) and especially the 760LI (544ps)??

With a Naturally aspirated engine wich will produce less torque than the Bmw’s engine, this A8 W12 will get its ass whooped in sheer performance, sadly!

Biturbocharge this engine and up the Horsepower-rating to 540-560hp!

Audi has done it again I placed my order today. to answer the fellow about the engine displacement he has forgot to look at the weight of the vehicle. this car will be plenty fast and its fuel usage will be less than its rivals.

Krille, if i’m correct, a quadruple turbocharger would be more suitable for a W configuration engine (which is, basically, two V6 engine merged into one). And the A8L’s market won’t be the guy who wants to floor it. It’s more meant for rich people who got a private driver. And i think this car will be more than appropriate for that purpose.

Dont like the front end much though, it could have been sportier, R8 looking. But still, according to Audi’s and germans reputation… This must be a masterpiece of pure engineering.

Truely a fantastic piece of Audi engineering. I can’t wait for the opportunity to drive one. It’s biggest contender will be the new BMW 760li, which has a 6L V12 twin turbo, producing almost 560 BHP. But the Audi has all wheel drive, BMW only has rear. So to test both of them on the track would be an experience

Audi cars are great, but if you live in South Florida, you may want to think twice. I owned A4, A4S, A8S, now an A8L W12 and A7. While in warranty, they are a pleasure to own. Out of warranty, at least if you live in South Florida, you may be out of luck. I had multiple experiences of repair cost shock, but none like the present. A few months ago while under factory warranty, I was told at Audi Coral Springs that I needed to repair all hoses, and those were not covered. I paid some $800 for that. Now I see a small leak at an L plastic fitting where a cooler hose connects with a metal clamp tightened with a screw. That fitting has a bleed screw that leaks a few drops a day, but they build up. There is no overheating or other indications of a problem. Anyway, the fitting has a hairline crack. This is a one inch by one inch L hard plastic fitting. I took the car for repair and they quoted me $5,000.00 as ‘the engine has to be removed’ in order to change, not just the fitting, but the entire hose (which is not leaking) attached to the fitting by a metal clamp! They tell me the part is $800 and the rest is labor. I got similar treatment at Prestige Audi in Aventura, but after initially correctly diagnosing that only the plastic fitting needed replacement (even laughing at the prospect of having to replace the full assembly and lowering the engine as I confided my bad experience at Coral Springs), they upped the project to include the full replacement of clamp, hose and fitting with lowering of the engine, etc. for about #2,000.00. I went online to an authorized Audi parts dealer, and bought the part for $84.00 I complained to Audi and got a letter and a call, very apologetic but insisting that I had to replace the ‘whole assembly’, lower the engine, etc. to repair that hairline crack on a $10 fitting… I am most unhappy with them and as much as I like Audis I am afraid the present 3 I own will be the last ones. It will be a sad divorce, Audi is all I owned for the past decade and I truly love them. I like them very much and if I buy them is because I can afford them, but I deeply dislike being ripped off.

The story continues and ends well. I got the part from Jim Ellis Audi in Atlanta, online. I confirmed on the phone with them and they were very helpful and polite. Price of the part (#4E0-819-371-J): $98.95 shipping included, which I got very fast. I took it to Wagner Tire in Lauderdale, a Goodyear franchise. Dropped the Audi A8 W12 at 08:00, it was ready at 11:30. Price: $260.00 Now, compare this total cost of $360 including part with the lowest price the Audi dealers quoted me of $2,000.00 and the original quote of over $5,000.00 !!!! If there is a ripoff, abuse and outright robbery more blatant than this, I am not aware of it. I feel sorry for my fellow Audi fans that accepted and paid those south Florida dealers. I hope this serves as alert to avoid such in the future. I have copies of all docs above, if you want me, I can send them to you. I could not find the tool to post pictures here (so far). I don’t mind spending money, and believe me I do spend it! But getting ripped off, allowing others to stick their hands in my pockets… that is something I can’t stomach.
