Well, it’s not a complete facelift, but Audi has has announced several mechanical changes for the 2011 Q7.

First and most important, the 3.6-liter petrol V6 and 4.2-liter petrol V8 have been replaced by a supercharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6.

Available in two separate versions.
The first version will be the base 3.0-liter engine producing 200 kW (272 PS / 268 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. It will enable the 2011 Audi Q7 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 222 km/h (138 mph) or 225 km/h (140 mph) with the optional adaptive air suspension.

If the base version of the 3.0TFSI is not powerful enough for you, then Audi can put the 3.0-liter V6 lifted from the current S4 sedan. The V6 Supercharged engine  produces 245 kW (333 PS / 329 hp) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h (62 mph) comes in 6.9 seconds(1 second quicker than the baseline engine) and the top speed is 243 km/h (151 mph) or 245 km/h (152 mph) with the adaptive air suspension.

Fuel consumption will be 10.7 l/100km (21.98 US mpg) which is an improvement of 12% and 16% compared to the previous normally aspirated engines.

But if you want to save even more money on fuel, then you’ll be glad to know Audi will offer a new 3.0-liter TDI common-rail engines. Having “effectively nothing in common with its predecessor”, the engine cranks out 176 kW (240 PS / 236 hp) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, which is very impressive. It enables the Q7 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds(just like the baseline V6 TFSI), before hitting a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph) or 218 km/h (135 mph) with the adaptive air suspension. Even though the V6-TDI accelerates like the TFSI, fuel consumption will be less than 8 liters (32mpg US), which is 19% better than the previous model.

All three new engines will be fitted with an newly developed eight-speed automatic gearbox. Based on the previous six-speed unit, the eight-speed gearbox features an additional friction-clutch shift element for improved fuel efficiency and faster gear changes.

Karim Benzema Audi Q7 Crash

Karim Benzema crashed his Audi Q7 after his team’s defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Real Madrid football player was introduced with half an hour remaining at the Nou Camp last night in the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona and, as he was probably too upset on his team loosing the match, he did not notice the barrier he hit while driving at speeds of less than 30mph. Enough, apparently, for the airbags of his Audi to deploy.

Benzema was a top scorer player in the French league during ‘07 and ‘08 season, but has struggled to impress since he moved to Real Madrid from French team Lyon on July for the  impressive £30 million, having scored just four goals in 13 games for the Spanish club.

Audi Q7 V12 B&B

You got an Audi Q7 V12, but you are not satisfied with the V12 Bi-Turbo TDI with 500ps and 1000pNm of torque ? Well the German tuner B&B Automobiltechkik got the solution for you. A tuning program that turns the already very powerful Q7 into a monster, a monster with 595hp and 1270NM to be precise.

Drivers who want an SUV with almost sports car performance can order that upgrade.

The top of the range Q7 6.0 V12 TDI (500 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque) can be equipped with a Stage 2 package (€2498) that features revised electronics, a modified turbo (it increases boost pressure 0.2 bar), and various other upgrades. Thanks to these tweaks, the engine produces 565 hp and 1,220 Nm of torque. If that isn’t powerful enough for you, the company can add a recalibrated ECU which enables the engine to turn out 595hp and 1270Nm of torque.

For the Q7 4.2 TDI, B&B offers two different performance choices. The Stage 1 package (€1,698) that produced 375 hp and 850 Nm of torque, while the Stage 2 upgrade (€4,950) features 400 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Models equipped with the latter package can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds. Sadly the limiter remains, so the top speed is 250km/h.

If you got the smallest engine (3.0TDI), B&B could equipped it with a stage3 package that produces 280hp and 585 Nm of torque, a pure “electronic optimization” (€1,498) with 300 hp and 600 Nm of torque, or a hardcore €3,950 package which produces 325 hp and 640 Nm of torque.
