Official Audi RS5 Specifications and Details

Audi RS5 Engine
Following the RS5 Official Photos leaked in a brouchure, Audi has released official information and details about the 2011 RS5.
Power will come from a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 that produces 331 kW (444 hp / 450 PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. I was really hoping for a down tuned V10 TFSI or V8 TFSI, but if they put that powerful engine in the RS5 then it will be too expensive and will step into R8 territory.
The good news is that the 4.2 V8 will produce 450Ps and that is 30ps more than the current BMW M3 which the RS5 is aiming at.
RS5 customers will get a seven-speed S tronic DSG 7-speed transmission which allows the 1,725 kilogram (3,803 pound) coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h(0-62mph) in 4.6 seconds, before topping out at an electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph). Audi can even remove the limiter if you pay extra. But despite the enormous power; Audi says that the RS5 will consume 10.8 liters of petrol per 100 km (21.78 US mpg).
Compared to the 354 hp 4.2-liter V8 that is currently fitted in the S5 RS5 engine features friction reduction technology that cuts on fuel consumption and a new exhaust system.
A new crown-gear center differential is also available in the RS5 to ensure that the handling is as better as the engine. The self-locking crown-gear “can widely vary the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles to improve handling further.
” When extra traction isn’t required, the unit has a 40:60 rear-biased configuration. According to Audi, “This new differential operates in conjunction with electronic torque vectoring, which affects all four wheels. If one of the inside wheels becomes imbalanced while the vehicle is at its operational limits, then the system slightly decelerates the wheel to obviate wheel spin. This results in terrific traction on the one hand while generating a yaw moment which aids cornering.”
A revised braking system, a modified electronic stabilization program which can be turned off and a recalibrated speed-dependent servotronic steering system are also available in the RS5.Ceramic brakes are optional.
Inside, the RS5 has leather/Alcantara sports seats, a sport steering wheel, carbon fiber inlays, piano black accents, and aluminum trim.
RS5 will cost 77.000Euro in Germany. No information for US or UK prices yet.

[...] Yes, it may be 1st April, but we can’t use the word joke and Audi RS5 in one sentence. Here you can see the RS5 parked in Salzburg, Austria. And surprisingly even thought the RS5 is painted in red and fitted with 20″ wheels, it doesn’t get much attention, that really a shame. The owner of this particular RS5 has to be a very lucky guy, because deliveries of the rs5 will start later this year. Find out more about the Audi RS5 engine specifications here. [...]
